Declan Kelleher of Cumann Staire is Dúchais Chora Finne invited the play 2 Days In September Play to perform at the delightful Corofin Community Hall & Field on Wednesday night January 18th. On a icey cold evening a brave audience traveled from as far away as North Galway, Kilfenora and Corofin came out to watch our wee play.
‘2 Days in September’ received a wonderful welcome by the Corofin audience showing the need to tell the stories of the War of Independence in Co Clare. The night also highlighted the power (& need) for storytelling in our community.
Thanks so much to Declan Kelleher of Cumann Staire is Dúchais Chora Finne, the cast and crew of ‘2 Days in September’, Clare Arts office, and most of all to the audience who traveled to see our wee play. What started as memory, a conversation between the Director Joan O’Hanrahan and I to the amazing evenings of sharing the story with total strangers is a treasure of the heart.

Decade of Centenaries Commissions

Funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Community Strand of the Decade of Centenaries Programme, the commissions aim to ensure that events are remembered at community level in a respectful, measured and non-partisan manner.

Clare Arts Office was delighted to support the artists to interpret local historical events by creating artistic work that provides a platform to encourage reflection and the consideration of issues, both past and present, which may be challenging, difficult and sometimes deeply personal.
